Ginger Compress

Ginger Compress:

Remember that one should keep the area treated warm, dry, and covered between applications.  Cover the compress with a thick dry towel, and cover the area with a new thick dry towel when changing applications. Also, I recommend using freshly grated ginger root -- results will not be the same if you use powdered ginger root.

Test the heat of the application before applying it to the skin by holding the hot towel an inch from your face. If the heat is not tolerable at that distance, it is too warm — let it cool a bit before applying. You should change the application as soon as it begins to lose heat -- do not allow the application to become lukewarm during the process (change before it becomes lukewarm).  Have several cloths available for repeated applications; you can repeat applications for up to 20 - 30 minutes.

After you have removed the compress and are finished, cover the area with another dry towel and keep the area warm and dry.
